Farm Share turning green waste into food
The Waste Reduction Award was established in 1993 by the California Integrated Waste Management Board, now known as the California Department of Resources, Recycling, and Recovery, Cal Recycle. The Waste Reduction Award is designed to recognize California businesses that have made outstanding efforts to reduce the waste that goes to landfills through recycling and waste reduction.
Other local award winners were Azul Conservation Products of Oxnard, which distributes water-saving devices for the home; processor Gills Onions of Oxnard; JH Biotech Inc. of Ventura, which manufactures commercial fertilizers and crop-protection products; and Baxter Biosciences, a medical products and services company in Thousand Oaks.
